Mayor’s Parade. The Band led the Mayor’s Parade which was held on Sunday 17th June 2012. The Parade went to Fairplace Church where a service was held.
Best Marching Band in the West of England.
A big congratulations to the Band for winning the prestigious Deportment Trophy at the 2012 West of England Bandsmen’s Festival held on the 16th June at Bugle, Cornwall. Ten bands took place in the “march down” to the annual contest, with Okehampton Excelsior Silver Band beating last year’s winners Bugle Silver.
The Band were privileged to play live on Radio Cornwall, who were covering the event.
The Band enjoyed the day and welcomed all visitors to their picnic, despite the weather, wearing a new uniform of plastic ponchos to stay dry, earning a special award of being the “craziest band” at the contest !
The Tour of Britain Cycle Race passed through Okehampton on Saturday the 15th September, and the Band played in Red Lion Yard in the morning as part of the celebrations. Thanks to all those that came and supported the Band and bought cakes from the Band cake stall. Also thanks to Donald Bibey for taking and supplying the following photos from the day:

Contest time …..well done to all band members for competing last Saturday (3rd November) at the 66th Annual Championships of the South West Brass Band Association held at Torquay. The band played “Voices of Youth” by Edward Gregson, and the adjudicator was John Berrymann.
Remembrance Sunday, 11th November 2012.
The Band led the Parade to the Church, with Jo Ware and James Alexander playing the last post as part of the two minutes silence.
Skittles social evening held on the 23rd November……., Yes, the winner of the knock-out/killer competition was, as you would have guessed, Richard Beardon, Musical Director. The winner of the main match was Louise Newall.
Thanks to all who arranged the evening, and in particular Margaret for cooking the food.
Crowds flocked to see the Band at Belstone Village Fair held on Sunday 15th July 2012 ! One of the best views of Dartmoor (not the Band).

WELL DONE …………..to Rebecca Hood (Bex) who made a charity tandem parachute jump on the 31st March 2013, with all proceeds going to the Bristol Royal Children’s Hospital.

Contest time - Well Done to the Band for competing in the National Brass Band Championships of Great Britain held on the 9th March 2013. The Band played “Devon Fantasy” by Eric Ball, and came fifteenth.
The adjudicators were Brett Baker and Stephen Roberts.
Bugle next !!!
Thank you to Wren Music and Paul Wilson for inviting some of the Band to take part in the second Okehampton Lantern Procession held on the 23rd February 2013.
It was a wonderful evening with music, lanterns and snow !
Spring Concert…… a great time was had by all at the Spring Concert held on the 25th April 2013. A big thank you to everyone that attended the Concert raising money for the Band’s chosen charity for the evening, FORCE Cancer Charity.
Thank you to the Mayor for supporting the event, Mervyn Hayes from FORCE for saying a few words about FORCE, Margaret Allin for compering, Richard Beardon for conducting the Band and to those that helped with the refreshments and the raffle.
Thank you also to Snowden’s Budgens of Okehampton for sponsoring the event.
